Mode Overview
Proxy Mode
Proxy mode routes matched requests through a proxy node. Some clients call it Global mode. It is excellent for quickly checking node availability, but routing everything through proxy for long periods can slow local services and consume more data.
- Routing behaviorRequests go through a proxy node before reaching the destination.
- Common namesPROXY, Proxy, Global.
- Best forNode testing, rule troubleshooting, fixed overseas exits.
Use Cases
When to use it
Node testing
Use Proxy mode briefly to confirm whether the selected node can reach a target site.
Rule troubleshooting
If a site fails in Rule mode, Proxy mode helps confirm whether the rule failed to match.
Fixed exit
Some dashboards, accounts, or workflows work better with a consistent region.
Setup
Setup advice
- Choose a stable nodePick a node with good latency, low packet loss, and the access requirement you need.
- Avoid always-globalReturn to Rule mode after troubleshooting so local and domestic traffic do not take unnecessary detours.
- Watch connectionsCheck whether traffic concentrates on the expected node, then switch regions or policies if needed.
Best Practice
Usage notes
Best practice: Proxy mode is a sharp testing and special-access tool. For daily use, Rule mode is usually more balanced.
