Mode Overview
Auto Select Mode
Auto Select usually maps to URLTest or Auto policy groups. The client tests nodes with a configured URL and interval, then switches to the better performer. It reduces manual switching, but latency alone does not guarantee bandwidth, specific access requirements, or long-session stability.
- Routing behaviorChoose automatically from a node group based on test results.
- Common namesURLTest, Auto, Auto Select.
- Best forSame-region node pools, daily browsing, changing networks.
Use Cases
When to use it
Daily browsing
Let the client pick a lower-latency route without watching the node list constantly.
Same-region pools
Keep several nodes from the same region in one Auto group to avoid region drift.
Mobile networks
After Wi-Fi or network changes, periodic tests can recover a better route.
Setup
Setup advice
- Set a useful test URLUse a reliable and fast URL that represents your normal access pattern.
- Control switching frequencyDo not test too often, or long sessions and logins may be interrupted by route changes.
- Keep a manual fallbackWhen Auto chooses poorly, switch to a manual policy group and pin a known-good node.
Best Practice
Usage notes
Best practice: Auto Select is best for multiple nodes serving the same purpose. Use Manual Policy when region, specific access requirements, or fixed IP matters.
